We wash the seaweed in sea water at point of collection and washed again at drying systems in fresh tested potable water ensuring it’s free of sand, stones or any other foreign materials.
We naturally air dry on our fabricated drying lines Seaweed is hung to dry immediately after collection to maintain it’s quality and freshness state. Colour, Goodness and Flavour.
Dependant on the market requirement some seaweed is slowly dried under shade on fabricated racks and lines to maintain all it’s vital elements necessary for nutritional and medicinal benefits.
Specialty indoor drying process required to achieve particular product standards.
After 24 hours minimum of drying to allow sufficient time for the stipes to lock in all it's vital elements each holdfast, stipe end is removed and returned to the sea.
Once seaweed is dried it is pulled in and checked that the appropriate dryness percentage is achieved before bagging.
All seaweed is graded for quality control over a sorting table to ensure all the previous processes have been conducted up to standards.
All seaweed goes through a heating process, tested for heavy metals and pre broken into food grade liners stored for milling process.
Seaweed storage is important due to seaweed being hydroscopic it is stored in a cool dry dark storage facility with harvester and area trace ability.
Dependant on customers requirements it is then processed into various forms.
